People have different reasons for needing multiple accounts. Sometimes, like in my situation, I will need a personal account, and about two or more business account for the businesses I run.
What usually discourages people from getting multiple accounts on Instagram and settle to using one account for everything is the stress of having to log out of one account then log in to another.
Knowing that you do not need to go through such stress, everybody can get multiple accounts.
Why You Need Multiple Accounts
Instagram is an ever-increasing social media platform not just because it offers a crucial space for people of all ages to interact, form relationships, and develop media relevant attitudes, but also because this platform which has become synonymous with visual content and storytelling provides an array of opportunities to engage in creative expression while curating audiences and networks.
Instagram has developed into a complex and multifaceted hub of gossip, competition, and reputation, creating a sociality that bears semblance to those that exist offline.
Instagram is also one of the best places to build an online brand, whether for personal or business intent. So long as your content incorporates visual elements, Instagram is the ideal place to start.
Although it can be challenging to curate topics and trends for your followers to engage with, it is important to understand the need to create multiple Instagram accounts for whatever purposes you have in mind.
To successfully create Multiple Instagram account, you must have a direction in mind supported by targets that you aim to achieve.
Whether for brand or personal purposes, each account features a primary objective usually related to individual interests, and over time, users carve out their niche- some more intentionally than others.
It would be somewhat out of place to have different accounts on Instagram where you put out the same contents. The essence of getting multiple accounts is for the sake of variety in niche and purposes.
Situations may arise where you have to share the same contents across your accounts but if you always have to share the same contents across all your accounts then you should just have one account.
Most times, because all your accounts are linked to one another, at creation, Instagram may likely suggest names that have semblance with your initial account’s username.
It is your responsibility to decide what name is suitable for that account. However, names are not allowed to appear twice on Instagram.
So, if the name you want to use has already been used you may have to create a change for it by adding a number or symbol. Other times, you may have to pick a different name.
Some of the reasons you would consider getting multiple Instagram accounts are:
Personal Use
This is the reason a lot of people get on Instagram in the first place. The major percentage of Instagram users are running a personal account where they share their day-to-day life experiences and activities with their followers.
They also use this account to build a strong online community and connection for themselves while relating and engaging with other people and businesses on Instagram.
Business Use
It is more professional to have a separate contact for your business from your personal contacts. I noticed people would take you more seriously if you have an Instagram account for your business on which you do not share personal events or experiences.
You would usually hear someone ask you, ” what’s your business Instagram handle?”, and how will you feel, knowing that you can easily create and run your business Instagram account alongside your personal Instagram account, and you haven’t?
School/Educational Purposes
Some schools or courses in school will require that you have an Instagram account for a project or some other thing. When I was in a Communication and Media class, we were asked to create social media accounts for the sake of that class.
You will be unserious and on the verge of losing grades if you decide that you can just use your personal Instagram account to run an academic project (unless you are instructed to).
There are other reasons people get multiple accounts on Instagram, but these are the basic and most common. Since you can have up to 5 Instagram accounts at the same time, you can handle 5 different needs for Instagram at the same time.
Building Multiple Accounts On Instagram
The possibility of having multiple accounts on Instagram affords users several opportunities for identity formation, expression, and exploration.
And with the switch feature, Instagram users can now have up to five different accounts just a button away.
Research shows that social media enables a lot of young people to explore their identities and experiment with self-presentation and Instagram gives you a piece of that real estate.
Define Goals For Each Profile
A lot of times, profiles are brand-driven and it is common for social media users to increase brand awareness based on their target audience. And the very first place you’ll want to show this is in your profile.
Selling your brand starts first on your profile which provides you access to more direct traffic and gives other Instagram users an idea of the type of content you put out. You can also encourage your audience
Develop A Content Strategy For Each Account
To achieve maximum reach on every social media post requires the proper strategy, this includes figuring out the best types of posts that work for each audience. To do this requires that you must first know your audience.
This way you can create content that they will like, comment on, and share. There are however specific steps you should follow to build longevity on your Instagram account.
1. Set clear goals that determine what you want to post.
2. Plan your social content that will help expose your brand to new people. This content should also align directly with your goals.
3. Build a content calendar that would help you visualize your ideas and organize a way to make your strategy easier to execute.
Manage Multiple Accounts With Purpose
In today’s social media market, brands can leverage their platforms to successfully drive their objectives across the marketing funnel. To be able to reach this demand on Instagram requires the implementation of complex social media structures.
A social media management process would optimize each account to decide what the right content is and what audience this content should go to. Multiple accounts can be used to serve different purposes in the same brand.
For each account to attain its full purpose a social media audit can be one of the tools used.
This will give you an idea of the effectiveness of your strategy, thereby pinpointing areas where you can focus more of your resources and also demonstrate the impact of your posts.
It is not just enough to put all this effort into building your accounts, you must also measure the results of all your efforts.
Keeping detailed metrics will help you optimize your plan over time. When analyzing this data be sure to take a look at how each piece of content performed and the variables used to work with it.
Effectively creating and managing Instagram accounts is a continuous cycle, but it doesn’t have to be overwhelming. By planning out your process you can develop subject matter that puts a strategic approach first.
Can I Use One Registration Details For All My Instagram Accounts
The consideration of getting an extra phone number and/or email contributes to dissuading people from getting multiple accounts on Instagram, taking to a one-for-all Instagram account which, in most cases, is not an efficient option.
However, if you have a personal account and would like to create a business account, I would expect that you should have a business email address and phone number.
Like I have stated earlier, it is more professional to separate your business contacts from your personal contacts.
People like the taste of professionalism when they reach out to you via any of your business contacts and they get a business-like response immediately. It also increases their trust in your business capabilities.
If you are creating an extra Account that is not business-related, you may feel reluctant to get another email or phone number, then you raise the question: “Can I use one registration detail for all my Instagram account?”.
Yes, you can. Seeing that all your accounts are linked to each other, you can use one phone number or email address for them all.
When the situation demands that you use a different email address or phone number for another account, you can also use different registration details as the situation demands.
Registration details don’t just stop at the phone number and email address, there’s also a password.
When it has to do with passwords, you are advised to use unique passwords for each account. This comes in handy if a hacker gets access to one of your accounts.
The other accounts will be protected and safe in this situation. At the creation of your accounts, Instagram has measures in place that help you know if your password is weak, strong, or very strong.
How To Remove Or Add Login Details From Your Instagram Account
With the multiple account system, all your accounts can stay logged in on Instagram at the same time. This means that although you can only be active and using one account at a time, you only need to click to switch accounts.
Keeping them all logged in saves you the stress of going through the login process when you have to access an account.
If for any reason you need to log out of any of the account,
1. Go to your profile page on the account you want to log out
2. Go to Settings
3. Click on log out.
Login out of an account only temporarily removes it from your mobile device. It does not delete the account from Instagram.
To add an account,
1. Go to your current account profile page
2. Go to settings
3. Click on add Account
4. Fill in login details for already existing accounts or click sign up to create a new account.
Once you log in to an account on your Instagram, you can easily shuffle through all your accounts by just clicking on your username on your profile page and clicking on which account you want to login.
You won’t be required to fill in your Login details again unless you had previously logged out of the account.
